You got it! Toyota!

I did a job for Toyota a few months back and saved all the stages. Maybe I knew I'd have my very own blog one day and could share this lovely process with the world. Maybe I'm somewhat of a Process Junkie like Alberto Ruiz! I dunno!

Regardless, here's how it started. In very rare cases, you work with an art director that actually knows what they want from the get go. So I lucked out. It wasn't a case of "I'll know what I'm looking for when I see it." So I recieved his COLOR layout and provided a black and white rough for him so that he knew we were on the same page.

Once that was approved, I drew her all up. Check my link to "Sugar Frosted Goodness" and I've posted a close up of the undercarriage. Anyway, I stuck very close to my intial layout.

In the the final stage I slap on the lettering and cry as all the artwork is covered up. I try my best to give it an old skool look and make the deadline.

They were happy, I was happy. A very rare working scenario. Wish there were more projects like this one! Oh well, I've experienced it once in my life. Perhaps I ask too much...!

I doubt that. He's too angry to be proud! Plus, he'd complain about all the unnecessary lines. I was going for that EC Comics sort of thing with a slight Jack Davis thing going on with the undercarriage of the car.

Thanks for sharing the process. Very beautifully done! Enjoying the process makes everything all the more worthwhile.

I agree. I almost prefer seeing the sketches that went into a great piece of art over the finish. Maybe it's the curtain of Oz sorta thing.

You cought the feeling well of an old horror comic. One of the cool Harvey ones, before they were gutted by the comics code.
