Marvel Comics: Black Widow!

Just did this pin-up this morning of one of my favorite Marvel Heroes! Black Widow! The Soviet Spy that'll make you cry! I did two versions. Which one do you like better? Top or Bottom...? ;)

I'm liking the one at the bottom with the 'tones'.

Sweet piece Dan .

I dig the second one. I'm always a fan of half tones. They never go out of style. Great piece Dan!

GREAT WORK!
I like more the midtone version, because the tone give it a fifty's flavor!

great piece!! wow. i think the first one shows off your brush strokes, i like the tones, but they kind of hide your line work.

I like the bottom one better - the tone gives more depth to the image - but I do lose your linework... maybe a solid tone instead?

Wow... pretty even on the voting so far. For my 2 cents worth, it's the clean version by a landslide, it just lets all that inky goodness come through, you've got great textures and definition back there, no need to cover it up, no need to "push it back". I think it's just lovely as it is. By Crom! Kill the dots!... see your enemies driven before you... and hear the lamentation of the women... nix the tones... or something like that... good stuff Dan! and good luck with the grillin'

if color: no zip. If no color: zip.

Top one definitely. You have plenty of texture already in the inks. Tone makes it look messy. Great image!

Great piece! Prefer the top as it's cleaner, clearer, and I like the contrast. On the other hand, I can see why you wanted the gray to "pop" certain parts. The dots create to much busy texture--perhaps you should try a version with solid grey tone instead of dots.

Thanks amigos! I think I'm steering more towards the one without the Zip-A-Tone dots. Color would take care of any Foreground, Middleground and Background elements.

Thanks for all the feedback. I really appreciate it!

Top, but you knew that, Dan. - mh

Dots if you're printing it in the old Marvel "Savage Tales" mag! No dots if you're coloring!

Either way you've got nothing to worry about.

Nice work! Tones are good.

Both are awesome, but i think the top one edges the bottom one out a little bit for me!

Late on this as I just discovered this site, put me down for the top one, higher contrast makes seems more vibrant to me.
