Guilty!

The cover to issue 12 of Mark Waid and Peter Krause's Irredeemable published by BOOM Studios. The finished-finished piece is posted here!

Had fun with this one! Hope you enjoy. Listening to 1st Wave and Alt Nation on Sirius Satellite Radio and scribbling away makes the time fly by. I think it also influences the drawing some. Who knows - I'm not a psychologist - I'm still struggling with the straight line thing!

That's lovely. I really like all the blocky, gestural brushwork

Excelent.

Do you use photography?

Nicolas: I occasionally use photos to inspire or get proper lighting. But I don't want to mimic photography. This drawing looks a lot like a friend of mine, Kojii http://kojii-helnwein.deviantart.com/art/Kojii-Mugshot-107597852

While I appreciate very realistic drawing, like Norman Rockwell or comic artists like Alex Ross, I think there's a lack of fantasy that comes with too much realism. Just my personal opinion. Of course, I would love to be able to draw half as well as either of those artists! ;)
