karaoke night at DDSC!

Another fun night with the Drink and Draw Social Club! Turned out to be Karaoke Night last Sunday...! So I had some instant subjects to draw! The top one features none other than 100 Bullets Cover Artist, Dave Johnson!

We also just wrapped up the book and it's on the way to the printer. Should be out by Christmas! Cheers!

I'm waiting for Drink and Draw Fight Club. I'll bring my little friend Mario.

I'm growing tired of your artist growth and breaking new ground. You're almost 40 for God's sake. Find your one style and run it into the ground for the next 30 years. This current attitude is not the path to bitter poverty.

Hi Dan,

Love your drawings, very nice. Thanks for putting the link on the Three Thumbs site (cuz that's how I found yoour blog).

These are great Dan! You've done it, you've illustrated the whitest-ass shirt on the earth! Where can I get me one a them nuclear white shirts? Nice fun confident stuff as always! Take care man.

Wow, those are awesome charactures! The one of Dave is especially good.

Great sketches, lines and colours. I like a lot the choice of paper.

Fantastic stuff! I always dig the white outline/spot-hi-lites/paperbag look. :) Love these characters. I can feel the friendship in these drawings. Very cool.

The barbarian dude in the below post reminds me so much of Jeffery Scott Campbell's work - All those abdominal muscles and curvy lines - I feel like I've seen this style before.

Thanks for getting me through Wednesday! :)

Thanks Guys!

RURALBARBARIAN: Mario? Mario? The guy's a buck forty soaking wet! He'd get demolished! ;)

MICHAEL: Dave says I drew him using Skinny Vision!

MR PAUL: Wait a second... Were you there the other night? How'd you know that!!!?!?!?!

ROB: Visine. I just Fed Ex'd you some. Sorry about that.

MARCELO: Thanks!

BOOB: Thanks! As for the barabarian below, you're not the first person to mention the J. Scott Campbell similarity. I think Lesean Thomas, Joe Mad and and host of other guys sort of ran with that funky anime style. I guess my comic book background is seeping into my work! I've always felt the Japanese really have a feel for the mid sections in their manga and animation work. Just looks cool.

Wow man those are tight! Anything you guys can't draw???

Haaa! I Love it! Look at those crazy bg's!

I like the one you did of Dave in skinny vision. I think Dave is a lot thinner in person so this skinny vision works! Post the skinny vision one you did of me.

Aww... I wish I was in town for this. I think you should sing at the next one. How 'bout some Hall and Oates? I know they are your favorite group. You can't deny it.

this is a great subject for an artist. I might just show up for the next one.

Urban Barbarian said...

...actually, that's a perfect Wray Subject! I cringe at what these poor Karaoke Folk might look like! I'd love to see that! Wanna come to the next Sunday experiment?

Urban Barbarian said...

KRISTEN: Hall and Oates... Y'know, I guess that is right up my alley, sadly...

Would of loved to see what you would of come up with involving these characters!

Come back soon!!!!

These are brilliant! I got talked into Karaoke one time and I sung The Devil went down to Georgia, and not very well.

I think the next time will be Billy Jean. :)

But these are yours or from Dave J. ?

Urban Barbarian said...

THanks! These are mine and the first one is supposed to be Dave. But, I was drinking, so the likeness is naturally off... Ooops!
