...I'll....( "what" was never generally discussed. At least Roy Thomas didn't feel it was necessary to finish that sentence. ) Conan usually punctuated things with the end of his sword!
I noticed there was a big lack of barbarians getting posted at the UrbanBarbarian Blog so I decided that needed to be remedied quickly. This illustration is a bizarre combination of cartoon meets Frazetta. Obviously, a little Buscema thrown in for good measure. No one illustrated a better Conan story than Big John himself. He captured the character so well you could read the Cimmerian's inner monologue without reading the word balloons. What an artist...!

Thanks Brian. Pencil, ink, marker and white out pen! I don't fool around on my off time!!
This has earned you a short reprieve from a crushing defeat at Gold's. Soon enough, Mecca's warriors will hear your lamentations.
Jesus Dan! I just can't manage to put the words right, I'm such a fan of the line and ink in general, your confident lines are so damned good. The silhouette of this guy is fun and cool as all hell. Your brushstrokes are beautiful, if you drew a graphic novel in this manner, I'd beat people over the head to get it. Great expression too, just a great sketch. You're using a brush pen? I've got to draw Conan now, you've inspired the heck out of me. Good stuff!
ahaha Nice face!! he seems to be holding his breath!!
But you've drawed the contained anger in his face.
RURAL BARBARIAN: I thought this might quench your savage thirst for manliness!
CHRIS: Not to turn this into a love fest - but I feel the same way about your work! Your ink line and ability to cross genres/styles is incredible! Can't wait to see your Conan sketch! I did this one at a Drink and Draw evening a while back. I don't draw enough of the Robert E. Howard stuff. What's wrong with me?
PIPO: Mayhap some wench gut punched him and he's sucking wind! LOL!
Crom's Guts that's nice!
needs more carnage!!!!!!!
Yeah!! that's such a great picture!! love the white-out bits.
Cool piece, Dan!
I really love your work! :)
He looks a bit grumpy.
DOMINIC: By Mitra's Sacred Girdle I appreciate your kind words!
ROB: True that. Hopefully he's thinking awful thoughts.
MARCO/HOWARD/DARYL: Thanks guys!
JESSE: He does sort of. Perhaps the barkeep has run out of mead!!!
I'm still waiting for the check for using my likeness in this piece.
oh this one's sawwweeeeeeeT!
RURAL: The check is going into wig money. You're blond hair makes you a sickly Elric at best...!
BOBBY: !!!
DAVE: I know... Only a measley six pack. There's gotta be an extra two abs somewhere beneath those rolls of fat he's sporting. Conan's a slacker... Why do I like him anyway?
exelent work congratulations!!!!
You draw half naked men purdy good!
Mike
Wow. Dan - ya killin it over here man. I'll be dropping by more often to see what ya got cookin...
Again I say "Please draw a Conan comic."
j.
Nice! Very Jeff Scott Campbell!
this is friggin sweet!! I don't know how you found a shirtless picture of me for reference, but good job regardless!
He did not care any more... life and death... the same. Only that the crowd would be there to greet him with howls of lust and fury.
Great piccy !! C R O M !!!!
Fantastic!, i was a long time without any time to visit you, and come and i see a lot of awesome draws, congratulations.
Great attitude!!
Nice work, by Crom! Has a groovy pen n ink roughness to it!
My God is the every lasting sky! Your God lives beneath him. HAHAHAHA!
I'm only going to take this so long, before I start demanding comics out of you. You think I'm kidding? I'll sic Ivan on you and you'll have no choice.
I hope you notice, Danny, that this image is one of your highest commented posts. I think it's obvious that your public demands more barbarian and less... cough... urban.
Awesome Barbarian!!! Cool design and the white outline makes him pop really nice against the background.
Great stuff as always!
Take care,
Hans
Crom! Fantastic Conan! Nice style.
And the blue girl is awesome.
Dan, you rocks.
Cheers

Great brute attitude.
He seems Conan's brother, I'd like to see him in other poses: chopping a dragon head, fighting with some monsters and so on.
um, helloooooo...?!?!
WE WANT CARNAGE!!!
WE WANT CARNAGE!!!
WE WANT CARNAGE!!!
WE WANT CARNAGE!!!
Dang it Dan... you can't post a pic of Conan and NOT have any carnage!
OK, by 9am tomorrow I want 3 new drawings on my desk.
Traditional Conan themes.
1) Conan slicing off the head of some witless goon with a nice bit of arterial *splorch* shooting out the side.
2) Conan waist deep in the blood of his vanquished enemies.
3) Conan surrounded in a bevy of sultry babes, who are all "polishing his sword". *wink wink, nudge nudge* (Buckets of blood optional on this last one).
OK, I have spoken, now make it SO!
By Crom, how do you get the text to appear ABOVE your image. Mine ALWAYS appears at the bottom!
rockin! Looks great Dan. For some reason it is reminding me of J. Scott Cambell. Probably alot of similar influnces.
Crom! time for a new post.
What a drawing! I think I just crommed in my pants!
Damn....Tooooo coool!!:)
Thanks guys for all the comments! Rob, I'll have to go with some of your suggestions. The logic behind all of it is too overwhelming for me to disagree with. But for me, Carnage is always sensabible.
TRAVIS: I'm not sure. That's how it always lands up. "I was lucky with the order." Clint Eastwood from The Unforgiven
"Carnage is always sensible" - Dan Panosian
I might have to make that my new signature.
HEH
I love it!!!!
