Super Post

I've been really bogged down with work these days with a new book coming out from DC Comics and Warner Bros. Here's a sneak peek at what passes for my pencils ( done on my Cintiq ). I'll post the inks soon! That LA Blackout really threw my fragile schedule for a nasty loop!

Ooh...I'm in LOVE with those curvy lines in the top one and the little hairy lines in the bottom one!

Brilliant, as always.

MEL: Thanks. Using layers is the way to go. First layer I use a brush that is, of course, pressure sensitive so the line thickness varies. I also make sure the brush is opacity sensitive too. Gives the drawing a looser feel and works more like a pencil.
Once I get the drawing where I want it I change the opacity on the entire layer to something like 50%. I add a new layer and take off the opacity sensistive aspect to the brush and ink. The illustrations I posted haven't been "officially" inked yet, which why they're still messy. But switching the brush's settings can give it that real ink look.

...I hope that's what you were asking about...

CHRISSIE: Thanks!

Senor, love both of these. Especially the lower one; the figure has a nice crispness about it, like you slammed it down and made it.. so. Great work, and good to hear that car bombs will be flowing again soon. Hang in there and give me a holler if you're buried!

After seeing these drawings I am convinced I need to try a cintiq. That is some beautiful stuff there.

Lookin sweet, nice use of the cintiq.
These "pencils" trump most of us folks' inks!

SURFER JOE: Car Bombs!!!! ( my poor liver... )

RATCRTUR: It's fun and it pays for itself with the time you land up saving.

DOMINIC: Dom!!! Thanks for saying such!

BRIAN: You speak madness! I saw your blog and you draw the way I imagine I can draw in my dreams!

400LBS NINJA: Soon - soon!!!

BILL: Supernatural! Kind of a "monster's manual" for the show. It's coming out from WB Books but DC is producing it.

MEESIMO: The Cintiq is an evil sort of magic!

The cintiq is the best thing ever. Only thing now is i have a hard time sometimes drawing on paper. Have you ever given Alias sketchbook pro a try. I find it better to draw in that PS.

ANDRE: I have. It's pretty nice. I should try it again.

EDWARD: Thanks!

BRIAN: Hey, I'm bleeding!!! Ouch!

BALKANDUDE: I think it's my favorite out of the bunch. I need to trim down the one cheek bone though...

LAURA: You're too sweet!

COMIKXGUY: Thanks! Cheeks is on and I was only hired to come up with some early designs. It's his show entirely! He's really perfectly suited for Spiderman. I just hope they let him run with it and do some classic Cheeks things. He's too damn good!!!
